Double chins tend to be associated with weight gain and/or aging but they may also have genetic predisposition. Chin is prone to laying down fat, therefore the most common reason for getting a double chin is having too much fat under the chin.
The most definite way of removing a double chin is by neck liposuction and/or neck lift. This minor procedure can be carried out as an outpatient and involves a small incision under the chin. The fat is then sucked out. Some people may need additional procedures such as muscle tightening, excess skin removal, or even chin implants.
