You may have seen Jill Zarin on the hit reality televison show, “The Real Housewife of New York City” as being one of the more outspoken and attention seeking housewife. A week after she stepping onto the red carpet for a event she attendend, Zarin received alot of attention from the press, soaking in all the attention and joking about her plastic surgery speculation on twitter, the New York housewife came clean with admitting she had a “liquid face lift.” she mentioned to People magazine: “I have a liquid facelift every six months. It really works. No knives!”

A liquid facelift is the injection of cosmetic fillers to make the face appear to be fuller. Rather than using a filler to tackle individual smile lines, Zarin’s face was injected with Restylane along the jaw line and up along the sides of her face to “fill and lift”. But, does it make her look younger?

Injectables should be done by a specialist who understands the facial anatomy and the certain area’s that should and should not be injected. If not done correctly it can distort the face changing the way you look.” Dr. Simoni also explains, ”Cosmetic injectables are used to restore and rejuvinate wrinkles and skin, turning back the clock making you look the way you did 5-10 years ago, not like a different person.”

Retail Mega -Store Walmart will be adding a new line to their ever filled beauty aisles soon- only this make up is for the kiddies.
GeoGirl is a beauty line aimed at the ” Tweens” of America, specifically 8-12 year olds. The line which has been stirring up controversy, due to the issue of contributing to the “over-sexualising” of children, will offer blush, mascara, face shimmer and lipsticks, all of which are natural and “eco-friendly”. But here is the kicker, the line is supposedly “Anti-aging”. Anti-aging for 8 year olds?
According to the dailymail, the lines marketing team states the following;

“the formulas are designed for ‘young skin’ and contain natural ingredients like white willow bark, chamomile, lavender and calendula, as well as anti-oxidants which are said to prevent aging.”

While I doubt the goal of the line is to create anti-aging results in the children, the ingredients are there. Hitting shelves February 21st, the brand is set to replace the Mary-Kate and Ashley brand which was a long standing beauty staple for youth designed for Walmart.

Famed Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon, Dr Payman Simoni, who is familiar with the demand to stay youthful, weighs in on the topic saying that-

“the line is most likely created for kids to have fun with make-up, while allowing the parents to be comfortable since the line is all natural and chemical free. A makeup line like this for children isn’t necessarily a bad thing, it’s if the parent allows their children to leave the house with it or promotes the idea of it making them more beautiful that would create negative implications” “As for the anti-aging qualities that is just a coincidence of having anti-oxidants in the ingredients. There are no creams or lotions in the line that I am aware of, meaning, the line is not intended to keep the little ones looking youthful”

Comedy Queen Joan Rivers is now starring in a new reality show with her daughter Melissa on the WE Channel called “Joan Knows Best”. The show follows Joan as she moves into her daughters house here in LA and meddles with her life on every topic from her nanny, her live-in boyfriend and the way she raises her son, Cooper. The ever quick witted Joan is a perfect match for Reality TV.
Among the many things the two quarrel over, Joans’ plastic surgery, and her desire to get more, is ever-present. The 77 year old has an interesting and hilarious take on her surgeries telling Popwatch.com the following;

“I just hosted the Miss USA Pageant and, let me tell you, beautiful gets you everywhere. The New York Times had an article maybe six months ago: Babies respond to pretty faces. So stop telling everyone it’s okay not to be pretty! If you can fix it, fix it! If it makes you happier. I love to look in the mirror and say, “For 77, you look good.” That’s all. I don’t care what anyone says.”

While it’s clear how Joan feels, her daughter feels differently, saying that she did not want her mom to get anymore surgery in the future. However, she wants people to know she is not against it for others.

Joan is believed to have gotten numerous facelifts, a brow lift,eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), Botox injections, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, and breast enhancement, in addition to other procedures.

We all know that bullying has been a major issue in America recently. With teens being taunted for their weight, orientation, race, even clothing. This sort of abuse can be detrimental and have even caused many to end their own lives. Now, with the teasing and name calling in excess, some teens have resorted to plastic surgery to combat the hurtful words.
Erica Morgo underwent a rhinoplasty at age 15 due to constantly being made fun of by her peers for having what she called ” a big nose”. She told ABCnews.com that “In sixth grade I was in the bus, and a lot of boys made fun of me for having a big nose,” Erica said. “They would call me Pinocchio. And in school, in class, people would point it out. I felt helpless. I felt like a loser.” Eventually Erica missed almost a month of classes and tried to break her own nose by hitting her face against a door. It was after this incident that her mother allowed her to undergo a nose job which has since brought back her self esteem.
Dr. Simoni who specializes in rhinoplasty believes that getting surgery to appease other people is definitely not a healthy thing to do. The issues with bullying and teasing need to be addressed and worked out first before deciding on plastic surgery. Surgery is the last resort and the patient needs to be mature and be doing it for their own confidence and happiness. In the situation with Erica, it seems like it did work out for the best for her but this is not likely the case for all.
Plastic surgery among teens is on the rise thanks in part to the already difficult time of being that age and not having self esteem and/or being made fun of. The majority of procedures are rhinoplasty, earpinning, and breast reductions and augmentations.

“Miss Plastic Surgery 2010″ is being held oddly enough not in Beverly Hills, where plastic surgery reigns,  but in Budapest, Hungary. The contest is only for those women who have had cosmetic enhancements and have the medical paperwork to prove it.

Judges will focus on their beauty while a panel of medical professionals will judge the quality of the plastic surgery. The winner will then go on to compete for the title of Miss Plastic Surgery Universe.

According to his twitter account, which he had updated minuted before the crash, he was hiking in the malibu canyons with his dog Jill. His jeep veered off the highway and went over into a cliff, Dr. Ryan died on impact. I think this is a lesson to all of us to remember that life is short, and to enjoy every moment.
