Kim Kardashian was filmed for her reality show with her family “Keeping up with the Kardashians” while getting Botox injections in a Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery office.
The 29 year old turns 30 next month which might be what prompted her to feel she needed to do some injectables. What the video doesn’t show is that she develops bruising around the site of the injections (which you will see on the show).

 Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Payman Simoni, who did not treat Kardashian, explains that ” Brusing is common among those getting injections especially if they take any sort of blood thinning vitamins or suppliments, such as fish oil or even aspirin.” Dr. Simoni recommends refraining from taking any of these 10 days before a cosmetic procedure like Botox.

Beverly Hills – Botox® parties are so last year.  With its recent FDA approval Botox® finally has its first and only rival: Dysport.  Consumers and the plastic surgery industry at large are expecting some changes to the anti aging game as a result of this new competition.  Many are hoping this new rivalry between Botox® and Dysport will result in not only price reduction, but also quality improvement both of which will benefit consumers directly, especially in this economy.

For years, Allergan’s Botox® has dominated the wrinkle market without any major competition.  Since its introduction, the unmatched and cost effective results provided by Botox® have made it the number one cosmetic procedure in America.  No other cosmetic or aesthetic product is as popular nor has hosted as many parties throughout the country. 

Botulinum Toxin A is the active ingredient of both Dysport and Botox.  The extremely diluted Botulinum toxin A relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles, decreasing unsightly lines.  Allergan, the company behind Botox®, has enjoyed unrivaled market for years and has repeatedly raised its prices every year for the last several.  Even the recent down turn in economy has not seemed to diminish the need for this luxury item.  “Interestingly the number of Botox® requests have increased in recent months,” explains Dr Simoni, a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon.  “As more people cannot afford costly surgical procedures, a temporary yet affordable fix has become more attractive,” he said.

With Dysport, medical manufacturer Ipsen introduces the only other FDA approved botulinum toxin, and the happy carefree days of no competition may be over for Allergan.  America’s open market encourages competition.  This may spur on pricing competition that will benefit consumers.  Also this competition may trigger further attempts to improve on to the next “bigger and better” products.

“Already many patients are reporting faster results with Dysport compared to Botox,” said Dr. Simoni. “We’re seeing results with Dysport in couple of days whereas Botox can take about four days” concluded Dr. Simoni.
